When you defeat the Watchtower encounter, the Haze surrounding it will disappear, allowing animals and characters to return to the area.

Watchtowers in Atlas Fallen are one of the encounterable Activities spread across the Map in different Locations. It is a tall looming, glowing tower that was first seen in early trailers of the game. It is characterized by the haze that surrounds it and is usually surrounded by a large number of Wraiths and Enemies. Players will need to destroy the Watchtower's Core to destroy the Watchtower and clear the surrounding enemies and haze.

What are Watchtowers in Atlas Fallen?

There is a designated Watchtower in each Location which will be marked on your map under Activities displaying the total you have completed so far and the total amount of Watchtowers there are in your current Location. The area surrounding the Watchtower will be covered in a thick haze and teeming with Wraiths and enemies until the Watchtower is defeated. This can be done by destroying its core which is sometimes carried by one of the Watchtower Guardians-- A designated Wraith in the area. Open your map in the game to view all available Activities in the area. Players will be able to encounter Wildlife Habitats, Elite Foe, Sealing Totems, and Treasure Map Fragments that can be pieced together, and have other unique interactions while exploring.

A Lore Item: The Watchtowers can be found in the area of your first Watchtower encounter in Caladrias; noting down Splinter's initial experiences when discovering Watchtowers.

"Someone asked if I was here to research the fog. I tried to tell her it wasn't actually dog but sand suspended unnaturally in the air when she had an almighty coughing fit and left. I believe this "fog" is behind the unusual density of wraiths in the area. It allows them to form wherever they wish. It's an area of extreme hazard. Very exciting! I've gathered many excellent samples already, although I must be careful not to attract that particularly enormous wraith wandering about. It almost looks like he's.. guarding something. Curious. An unsolvable mystery, unless I find a way to talk to the monsters. Hmm."
