The City of the Sun is a Main Quest in Atlas Fallen. Main Quests are Quests that follow the main storyline that progresses through the core game. Follow the main objectives to get through the main quest line. This will take players to new Locations, and introduce them to important NPCs. Progress through the main questline to gain rewards and learn new abilities. Activate Nyaal's Sense to display Main Quest objective markers in the world.

The City of the Sun Quest Complete Description

After fleeing the city, you landed at Nyaal's prison. There you found out that Valery is dead, unsuccessfully having tried to free Nyaal from his prison. She carried the last piece of the gauntlet. It will awaken a new power in you.

Atlas Fallen The City of the Sun Quest Walkthrough

Meet with Khendra

As soon as you pass through the Wildlands Gate while completing From Beliefs to Trust, you will begin The City of the Sun and youw ill be tasked to Meet with Khendra. Follow the tunnel passage past the Wildlands gate all the way to the end and a short cutscene will begin. 

 

Reach Lithesta

• Location: Monsalar: The Wildlands
• Rewards: Preachers Guard

Arif went ahead to scout Lithesta and gather information about the current situation there. Go to the city and find him there. 

Exit the cave passage and take the stairs to the right. There will be an Anvil for you to raise. There will also be a statue with a chest. This will contain Incense (Special). Carry on to Lithesta. There will be a field of Quicksand Raise the platforms underneath to keep from sinking,  Once you get past the quicksand, you will soon reach the Lithesta main road which you can follow. Once you see the stairs, check the area to the left with the barrels where the slope ends to loot a Lore Item: Surviving Knights?. There will also be another raisable Anvil nearby at the base of the archway. On the other side of the arch is a Spinning Toy (Common).

You can take the large staircase into the Roadside temple to explore some more, but you will need to continue following the main road past the Riverbed to the City's Front Garden to reach Lithesda. Take the long staircase in front of the Old Tithe Road to enter the City Plaza in front of Lithesda's main entrance.

There will be a WARNING Lore item behind the structure holding the flag at the top of the stairs. When you're ready to progress, approach the large doors and speak to the City Guard.

 

Inform the High Priest of the threat

• Location: Priest's Estate

The city gate has been barred due to speculation of an imminent threat. The guard at the gate said the High Priest might be able to resolve this and unlock access to the city again. Find the High Priest at the estate. 

Start heading southeast. Another Anvil will be in the ground in the open fields next to the stone path. There will be a Spiker near the City's Front Garden. Approach it to begin a Combat interaction. View the Spiker page for Combat tips. Continue Southeast past the Riverbed till you reach the Outer Reach's Ridge. Continue past the field and flowers till you reach the slope leading into the Priest's Estate.

Head up the stairs into the Priest's Estate. Take The Black Alms Lore Item on the bench to the left. You can explore the estate. To complete the objective, speak to the High Priest at the center altar. 

 

Look for oil in the estate's upper rooms

Make your way through the estate's upper rooms and there will be a small pile of containers. Interact with it to take a container of oil. There will also be a chest in the room just next to it. Loot it for a Lore Item: Fallen from grace. This will begin the Side Quest: The Imprisoned Priest. Before you leave the area, search the location- there will be a Replacement Limb (Common) you can loot at the ledges. 

 

Light the fires at Thelos' shrines

• Location: Monsalar: The Wildlands

The High Priest ordered you to get oil from the storeroom and light three shrines to distract the wraiths from Lithesta. The shrines are distributed around the Wildlands. According to her, Lithesta's crisis would surely be resolved this way.. 

You will have three new objective markers to follow around the Wildlands. Look for Thelo's Shrines and light all three. Follow the directions of the quest marker on your compass to locate each one.

 

One will be near the City's Front Garden, another at the Outer Reach's Ridge and another will take you through the Northern Ridge where the Shrine will be at Sundial Road. The Shrine Locations will also be marked on your map with the yellow main quest marker. 

 

Return to the High Priest

• Location: Priest's Estate

You lit the fires at the three Shrines. Return to the High Priest to report your success.

Once you've lit all the Shrines, you can return to the Priest's Estate and speak to the High Priest again to complete this objective. You will also be rewarded with the Preacher's Guard. 

 

Return to the gates of Lithesta

• Location: City's Front Garden

After doing the high priest's request, the fires did not work as intended and now Lithesda is under attack! The priest has given you armour that holds great power for the upcoming fight. 

Prepare for Combat. Return to the City Plaza where you met the City Guard and you will be met with a number of Wraiths and a Soarer, a Colossal Wraith.

 

Defeat the Soarer

Defeat the Soarer. Combat information: When the Soarer enters its frenzied phase it is not only much faster, more aggressive and deals more damage, but is also extremely vulnerable to incoming hits as its defenses are lowered. View the Soarer page for additional Combat tips. 

 

Ask the guard to open the gates

The wraith in front of the gate has been defeated. Talk to the guard to have the gate opened again, now that the entrance is safe once more. 

Speak to the City Guard standing in front of the main entrance. This will begin the next dialogue and will complete the first part of the quest. 

 

The City of the Sun Part 2

Talk to Arif

• Location: Lithesta
• Rewards: Preacher's Guard, Active Formula XV, Reckless Cure

You managed to enter the city and were confronted by Morrath. He recognized your role in saving the city and let you walk the city freely. Arif should be around the palace entrance, find him and hear what he managed to learn.

Follow the quest maker on your compass through the upper City to reach Arif. You will need to climb a few flights of stairs to reach him. Interact with him to complete the objective. 

Ask Spire workers about the essence ritual (3)

Arif told you that the entrance to the palace won't be possible without a distraction. He tasked you with finding out more about the Essence Blessing Ritual in the spire and learning something that you could use to sabotage it. 

Follow the Quest marker back to the spire where the Palace is. The Spire Location will also be marked on your map. Walk around the spire and interact with the different Spire Workers. They will be marked as a Spire worker. One of them will give you Active Formula XV. you can find all three by making your way down the stairs. As you approach one, the quest marker will appear. Speak to all three to continue. You also might be able to come across some additional Artefacts. Incense (Rare) can be found in a chest and a Horseshoe (Special) can also be found nearby.

 

Meet with Graveller in the Lower City

Head into the Lower City. Follow the quest marker and you will see the entrance to the Lower City. Follow the main path.

There will be an Anvil you can raise in a section off the road to the left where Bumpkin will be sitting. You can also take a look at the Vendor's wares in the area. There will be a Horseshoe (Special) that can be collected by the Vendor and Beggar. When you're ready head deeper into the lower city and you will eventually encounter Graveller. Speak with him and complete the dialogue to continue. 

 

Follow the Mining Road to the Mining Village

• Location: Mining Village

The Essence mine in Graveller's village was shut down long ago because of Essence's corruption. In order to create a diversion to enter the palace, go to the mining village and find whatever corrupted the Essence there. The Mining Road will lead you there. 

Head back up to Lithesta. You can jump off the ledge at the southmost point while continuing to follow the quest marker and you will land at the City's Front Garden. The Mining Village will be toward the Southmost edge of the Map. Walk toward the road to reach Lithesta's Main Road.

Follow the path all the way south Past the Riverbed, Western Ridge, Roadside Temple, Wildland Wastes, and Hunter's Camp. Be careful of the Wraiths in the area. You should be able to find your way to the Mining Road all the way to the Mining Village. 

 

Ask the miners for a way into the mine

You reached the mining village. Find someone to ask about getting access to the old mine, where the corrupting object probably lies dormant.

Head into the village. You can pick up a Lore Item: A letter to mother. Picking up this item will begin an Errand: Two Can Keep a Secret. You can also pick up The Essence Blessing further down the path near where you can Raise an Anvil. There should also be a Griffon Figurine (Rare) in the area. If you go toward the Mining Village Cave you will be stopped by a powerful seal, but you will be able to pick up another Lore Item: Closed. To move on, look for some stairs to head up the upper floors. You should find Splinter, a Forewoman. She will tell you about the nearby Watchtower. This will complete the objective.

 

Find a way up to the Watchtower

• Location: Southern Watchtower

The nearby Watchtower is blocking the mine, but a group of villagers, supposedly accompanied by Tracker, went up towards the Watchtower. It seems they were unable to take it down so far. Find a way up to the Watchtower in order to destroy it and unlock the mine!

The Watchtower will also have a marker on your compass. It will be northeast of the Mining Village upon an arch of rocks within the Southern Wastes. You can recognize the signs of a nearby Watchtower from the surrounding thick haze, which means you will also encounter a large number of Wraiths as you continue to approach the tower. Look out for a raisable object. Interact with it to begin A Bridge from the Past. Continue the objectives from this main quest to proceed. You will need to ask about the hunter who knows the area.

Create a path to the Watchtower

• Location: Southern Watchtower

The path to the Watchtower collapsed in a recent explosion when the villagers tried to blow it up. The only way up is by using your powers, but you need ti improve your raise ability first to get to the path. 

Continue the quest after successfully making the Reveal Gauntlet upgrade. Return to the artefact you encountered near the Watchtower. Head under the arches and raise the structure to reveal a forgotten path, take the path up and there will be an Anvil. Follow the path to reach the Southern Watchtower.

 

Defeat Dromur

• Location: Southern Watchtower

Once players make it to the Southern Watchtower, they will have to clear the area of  a Dromur and various Wraiths to have access to the Watchtower. For combat tips and movesets to use against the Dromur, view the Dromur page. Upon clearing the Watchtower, players will reunite with Tracker.

 

The City of the Sun Part 3

Enter the Mine

• Location: Mining Village Cave

The path to the mine is finally open! Enter it to find the object that corrupted the Essence there.

After clearing the Watchtower, the mine has opened up allowing players to enter and explore inside. Enter and explore the Mine further.

 

Search the Mine for the Corruption's Source

• Location: Mining Village Cave

Search the Mine for the object that corrupted the Essence and caused the Mine to be shut down.

Upon entering the Mine, players will find structures that they can raise but will find nothing. Head down to the lower level of the Mine and continue looking for the corrupted object. Players will find the Quest Item Corrupted Spark hidden in the sand.

Discuss the Plan with Arif

• Location: Upper City of Lithesta

You found the artefact that corrupted the Essence in the mine. It turns out to be a piece of a weapon that Nyaal's followers used in the war. Return to Arif to plan the distraction.

Once the Corrupted Spark has been obtained, exit the Mine and look for Arif in the Upper City of Lithesta. Picking up the Quest Item Rare Apple will start the Side Quest: An Apple A Day... Speak with Arif to begin the next objective.

 

Enter the Absolution spire

• Location: Lithesta

Arif explained his plan to you. In order to disrupt the ritual of the priests, you need to enter the Spire and gain access to the kiln room. There you will need to throw the corrupted artefact into the kiln.

After speaking with Arif, follow the marker to the Palace. Reaching there will grant players with 3 new objectives.

• Pick up purified sand to enter the Kiln
• Dress as Unnamed and enter the Kiln room
• Throw the artefact into the Kiln.

Pick Up Purified Sand to enter the Kiln

Go to the kiln and deposit the corrupting artefact in it to cause a distraction. You will need to hide the artefact in some sand and wear your Unnamed clothes, or the priests will not let you into the kiln room.

Players will not be able to pick up purified sand with their armour unless they equip the Unnamed Worker armour. Head over to the pit and pick up the sand giving players the Quest Item Corrupted Urn.

 

 

Dress as Unnamed and enter the Kiln room

After players have obtained the Corrupted Urn Quest Item, keep the Unnamed Workwear armour on and the guards will easily let you in, telling you to put the sand into the Kiln. 

 

 

Throw the artefact into Kiln

When entering the Kiln room, players may pick up the Lore Item The Kiln on the left side of the room before depositing the artefact into the Kiln. 

Quickly Leave the Kiln room

• Location: Lithesta Palace

The corrupted artefact has been thrown into the kiln. The Essence started reacting to it immediately. You should run quickly

After depositing the artefact into the kiln, players will have to immediately leave the Kiln room as the Kiln will explode. Follow the marker to the next location for the next objective.

 

 

Regroup with Arif

• Location: Lithesta

The reaction in the kiln rom caused a huge explosion that disrupted the ritual and destroyed parts of the Spire! Find Arif and enter the palace with him to confront the Queen!

Players may head back to the pit to activate the Sealing Totem and gain the artefact Arkis Knight Game Piece (Special). Follow the marker to see that Arif is not there, but Graveller is. Speak to Graveller about Arif's whereabouts, and learn that he is already in the palace.

 

Hurry to the Queen's Palace

• Location: Lithesta Palace

Arif is nowhere to be found, he probably already snuck into the palace. Go there now and confront the Queen!

After learning about Arif's whereabouts, quickly head to the throne room in the Palace. A cutscene will begin where they see Captain Morrath as well as Arif standing by the Queen.

 

The City of the Sun Part 4

Pick Up Valery's Gauntlet Piece

• Location: Nyaal's Prison

Valery carried a piece of the gauntlet with her. Pick it up and hopefully it will enable you to take the fight to Thelos themselves.

Walk over to Valery and Nyaal, and a cutscene about Nyaal's Prison will start. After the cutscene, speak to Nyaal. When the conversation has ended, players will obtain the Quest Item Crush Piece for their Gauntlet.

 

Return to the Wildlands of Monsalar

• Location: Nyaal's Prison

You gained a new piece of the gauntlet that allows you to crush obstacles in your way. Open up the way back to the Wildlands with it.

Before leaving, players may pick up the Lore Item Final Page. Open the door to the left of Arif, head on in to find a seal you can crush to reveal a Forgotten Path. Follow the Forgotten Path up to the stairs towards a sealed door. Going through it will lead to the next objectives.

 

 

Crush an Anchor Holding Sundial Chains

• Location: The Wildlands
• (Optional) Tell Khendra about her sister
• (Optional) Check in with Tracker

 The Sun Dial prevents access to The black Alms, where the Watcher and Thelos are holed up. Take down the chains anchoring the Sun Dial with your improved crush power!

Players can head back to the Mining Village to check in with Tracker, doing so will activate the Side Quest: Securing the Mining Village.

Players can head back to the Knight's Camp to inform Khendra about her sister. Speaking to Khendra after acquiring the Side Quest: Securing the Mining Village, will update the quest.

One of the Anchors is on the top of the Prison stairs, use Enhanced Crush to crush the anchor and hear Thelos speak to you through Morrath's voice. Continue onto the other 4 anchors to crush them.

 

One of the Anchors is at the Outer Reach's Ridge, use Enhanced Crush to crush the anchor. Continue onto the other 3 anchors to crush them.

 

One of the Anchors is at the Northern Wastes, use Enhanced Crush to crush the Anchor. Continue onto the other 2 anchors to crush them.

 

One of the Anchors is at the Sundial Road, some Wraiths and a Marauder will appear in this area so players will need to clear them before they can use Enhanced Crush to crush the Anchor. Continue onto the last one to crush it. For combat tips and movesets to use against the Marauder, view the Marauder page.

 

One of the Anchor is in front of the Sun Dial on the other side of the cliff. some Wraiths, a Diver, and a Tailguarder will appear in this area so players will need to clear them before they can use the Enhanced Crush to crush the Anchor. Crushing all the Anchors holding the Sundial will cause the Sundial to collapse.

 

Travel to Thelos' Citadel

• Location: Black Alms Road

You took down the Sun Dial, but you got knocked out for a while, and the Knights have already moved on! Hurry towards the Black Alms!

Follow the marker to the Sundial to trigger a short cutscene where Nyaal will speak to Thelos. A Conjurer and some Wraiths will spawn right after the cutscene. Once the Conjurer has been defeated, use the collapsed Sundial to go over to the Black Alms Road to see the Odd Hunter.

You defeated the guardian wraith summoned by Thelos themself. Move into the Black Alms and confront the Watcher and Thelos!
